Abstract
Childhood is a critical period of growth and development during which inadequate nutrition, poor hygiene; delayed immunization and inappropriate management of common illnesses can adversely affect health. Parents and other community members play an important role in recognizing childhood illnesses and seeking timely healthcare. Adequate public awareness may therefore contribute to prevention, early recognition and appropriate management of common childhood health problems.
